Morning Commute....

I was snoozing away on the train this morning when I felt some rhythmic tapping coming from the seat next to me. I squinted in the direction of the guy next to me and what do I see. The guy has head phones on plugged into an electric bag pipe. He was quietly practicing his piping. He told me I was the first person to know what he was up to. Some people though he was listening to their conversations in with the electronic pipes.

The pipes were used to get the Scots ready for battle. Which I could understand. If I heard the pipes early in the morning I'd be ready for battle too!

Bag pipes could be annoying first thing in the morning on the train, a learning piper could be quite worse.
Lesson:
Music can be good on your commute. But remember to use the headphones.

Server is up ( mostly )!!!

Finally got the server up. The photo album is not up yet but it's talking again and it's now running 2003 server with a mirror disk. That means that I'm always doing a backup. I'll get email up tomorrow night.

Scotland Road

We went out last night to the Act II playhouse in Ambler. We saw the play Scotland Rd. It's about a young woman who is found on an iceberg and claims to be a third class passenger from the Titanic. It's a thriller that the small playhouse pulls off very well. The theme of this play is identity, who are you and who you claim to be. This play easily be a teleplay that would have been comfortable on the Twilight Zone. The actors draw you in and the sparse set are all you need for you to believe in the characters. I really don't want to discribe the play further as it will spoil it. Here is a link to a good review that will better describe the play and not give it away. It open until Feb 18. Don't miss it!

Still fixing....

Updating the server to Windows 2003 server. One casuality was Marilyn's and mine mail archive. The system disk got garbled and had to be formatted. So we lost our contacts and old mail. Marilyn was more than a little upset. I should have backed up the system disk.

Update is going slowly maybe back up today. Just close your eyes and you can imagine the images........

New hard drive is progress.....

.... you'll notice that there are no images. We'll I'm working on the server and I need a part so it will be a while today.

If you need images. Just draw something on your screen with a crayon! Don't let you Mom catch you doing that.

New Hard Drive.

Picked up a new hard drive for the PaolinoNet server. It $49 for a 250gig drive at Staples. Pretty cheap it's going to be the backup for the system. When we are done this weekend we'll have this as a mirror drive for a backup. OR we'll be back to where we have been. Maybe.

We have skill .... we need luck!

Images for the blog may be offline this weekend.

Daily Grind.

So you want an espresso and Starbucks leaves you bitter? Chestnut Hill Coffee Co. on Germantown Ave is the perfect remedy. Marilyn and I went there with Meg to have a cup. They make the espresso the old fashioned way with semi-auto machines. That is the kind of machine that the barista has to make the espresso and froth the milk. Starbucks moved a long time ago to pushbutton espresso machines. The coffee was nice and smooth and made right. So for a good cup go there. You may run into Volvo driving latte sipping liberals.

Bathroom shelves are done.

We finished the bathroom cabinet and shelf project from last weekend. I took a trip to Home Depot and dragged the table saw out of the basement and finished the project. It really looks good and now we have places to put bathroom stuff!

Shadow News.

Got a call from the auto upholstery shop and the body shop. I sent the seat in for a new cover and the rear fender for paint months apart. They called me within 5 minutes of each other. Both are done and waiting for pickup. They will be ready for spring to put on the bike and ride.

Weekend Update.

Did it look like I've been away for a long time? Not much going on here but going to work, coming home and relaxing.

Marilyn went to a knitting class yesterday. She'll tell me more tonight.

Weekend plans, we have to go get a present for Stacey this weekend. We have been planning to go to this place for a while and it is a good excuse to go. The package will fly courtesy of UPS.

The Christmas tree must come down this weekend. I think there is a law that a Christmas decorations must come down before the end of January. It still cheery to look at it but the spirit is gone.

We had an dusting of snow this morning. Someone said that getting and inch of snow is like winning a dollar in the lottery.....it feels good but it doesn't amount to much! ( thanks Meg! ) Which segues into my next item. We won $7 on the Powerball!!!! A win is a win!

That's all for now!

24 Season 6 is Here !!!!

Ok....Ok we love 24 and we can't get enough of it. The dialog is shlocky and sometimes the acting is stiff but it a great thriller. Maybe the best on TV today. It will keep you right on the edge right till the end. A cliffhanger every break. How many really really bad days can Jack have? And He's off to a great ( or really bad ) start this season!
We wanna see what happens next! What's in the magic bag this season! Will Chloe save him again? Will we believe him? Will he get away? Will we fall off the edge of the seat? Tune in next time!
Jack!!!!! Don't forget the cell phone batteries !!!!!!!

Towels and a place to put them.

I decided on putting up a cabinet and shelves to hold the towels that we just bought in the bathroom. We got the cabinet yesterday, today shelves and tools.

I needed a small table saw to cut the shelves I would use it this summer to fix the deck so off to Home Depot to find it. They had all the shelf stuff so I get that. The table saw was too small for what I needed. Then a stop at Lowe's. I don't know why I stop at Lowe's. If something you need is on the shelf then OK. If you have to ask a question then watch out. ".... I would like this saw please." "Can't find it. Computer not working. Don't know when it will be in. Or if we get them in at all." "....Can I buy this one?" "No this is not for sale." "...Why is it here? Nevermind!" Went to the other Lowe's. Same exchange. Sheesh! Ended up at Sears and just picked it up!

Got home with all the goods and we put up the cabinet with some effort but we got it up square and sturdy on the wall. Then cut two shelfs and monted them. The next two were too wide so I was going to exchange them and try next weekend to put them up.

All and all a positive weekend.

Rainout today.

Well no day at Grounds for Sculpture because of rain. We bought towels at JC Penney. Now that we have towels we had to find a place to put them all. I revived a plan to put up a cabinet and shelves in the bathroom. At Lowe's we found a cabinet for 50% off! What luck! Now I have to get some shelves and we'll be in business. Shelves tomorrow. Today I put up a coat rack in the hallway. Level, straight and centered! Must have been a mistake!

Pumpernick's

We met Marj and Roy at Pumpernick in North Wales ( near the mall ) today for breakfast. Now this is the place where nova is not a car from Chevy! Oy! I had nova on a toasted onion bagel and Roy and Marj had the nova and whitefish brunch. The pickle bar had half sours and tomatoes. All this smoked fish was too much for Marilyn to handle so she opted for a more conventional omelet. If you go you can sneek in past the adult books store on upper state rd and bring an appetite. Try the kippered lox!

Well, After a few months of nagging Blogger.com got me to switch to New Blogger.

Global Warming????? Nahhhhh!!!!

We went to try to see The Good Shepard at the Warrington 22 today. After an hour ..... when things were getting good..... THE POWER WENT OUT! A partial blackout in the theater. Evacuate the theater ... blah blah .... stubs for free movie ....

We must have displeased the snow gods.

From the Lapland Lake snow report:

Friday, January 57:00am
It is time for extreme measures. We are no longer recommending the wearing of jammies inside-out for snowfall. Wear them on your head.

Extreme measures indeed!

Today is a balmy 70 degree January day. No snow on the horizon. We must have displeased the snow gods with the garlic offering last year!

Ok Snow already!!!!

Ok, I'm looking for it to snow.

Trouble is it's 52 degrees! I looked on the weather map if you go to Denver, all the snow you could want. New England, upstate New York, pitifull amounts. I'll settle for at least cold, how about cool weather?!? And just a few snow flakes!

Hey Mike, what is the ski wax recomendations for today!

The ghost New Years past.

Here is a few more pictures for those of you that are going through Mummers withdrawl this morning.

Mummers Postponed.

Rain, Rain and more Rain. The mummers would be marching up Broad Street today. It would soak their costumes and would be a shame. So, for all of you who can't get their fill of Mummery today follow this link LINK to see pictures of the 2005 Mummers celebration.

Happy New Year!!!

Well here we are at the begining of the new year! 2007! Here's to looking forward to a great and happy new year.

Marilyn and I celebrated at home. Just too much trouble dodging drunk drivers! We had king crab legs for dinner. Each leg weighed more than a pound! I'd really hate to come across on of those guys in the wild. With 8 legs claws and a body they have to be 20 to 25 pounds! yikes! But they were tasty with garlic butter!

Overheard at the local garage. ".... you know with the year 2000 all we were looking forward to computers stopping, no electricity, planes falling out of the sky. Times were simpler then."

By the way.... In the 60's and 70's how many times would you hear a sentence that would start with "By the year 2000......".

Enjoy your New Year!!!!!
