Prepping for hot weather

Weather tomorrow is forecast to be high in the triple digits. Temps will stay for the rest of the week. As nasty hot as it is now it will seem refreshing later on in the week. What a cheery thought! Looking forward to going to the boat this weekend to cool off. Just have to make sure the plants are watered.

Sunset at the boat

We went to the boat this weekend. It was VERY hot and humid. We did not sail but just went to Swan Creek. The prop on the boat was fouled with barnicales and it was hard to manuver. I jumped into the creek after we anchored and scraped the stuff off the prop. We then went back to the marina for the evening and swam in the pool. Sunset at the marina was beautiful. Thank God for air conditioning! We set up the suit case air conditioner and slept in comfort.

Tour de France winner flunks drug test - Yahoo! News
Floyd Landis is about to be toasted. Too bad, his comeback story in the Tour seemed to good to be true. Looks like it was.

Boat Rigging

Looks like the storms in the area has rescheduled the boat rigging. I wouldn't want to climb a metal mast in a thunderstorm! Would you? Monday maybe the next available day for the rigging update. Next weekend will be guests at the boat and new rigging.

Diner

Took mom to the Country Club diner. It's a nice little diner where it's always busy. Earlier this week we heard a interview with Mickey Spillane who wrote the Mike Hammer dectective series. He said that he had Mike Hammer eat at diners because he could not spell restaurant!

New Contributer.

I have set Marilyn as a contributer and commentor.

Marilyn Blogging

I got Marilyn started with blogging. I'll set up a link to her page as soon as she has it for general consumption.

Went down to the boat.....

Storms let up and we went to the boat today. We made a good call as all who stayed down in Spring Cove were bounced around by the storms last night.

I needed to drop off a sail cover on the boat as it will be getting some work this week. Installation of lazy jacks, control lines lead back to the cockpit and a new VHF antenna. The cover has to be modified to work with the lazy jacks.

Rain

Rain, chance of rain, humidity and small craft advisory making a boat weekend plans soggy. We have to go down to drop off a sail cover maybe we'll go tomorrow for the day and go swimming in the pool.

Weekend Preview

Boat weekend. We'll go down and enjoy. Thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow but I don't think that they will be the as bad as the one earlier in the week.... was that thunder?

cirque de soleil

What can I say! This is always a great show! The QUIDAM show is spectacular. The clowns are funny, the acrobats are amazing, jugglers are memesmerizing, the dancing, the tumbling, the skipping rope. Yes, even something simple as skipping rope is transformed into something fascinating! The story seems to revolve around a little girl, a headless man, a clown and a hat. The story is a bit impenetrable but the show is fun nonetheless.

Dinner

We went for dinner at the place that was Joe Poon's. It was a very nice Chinese and sushi bar.

Dinner was really good. But the funny thing was the guys behind the sushi bar were watching Alton Brown on the Food Channel making wontons!

Power Still out

Looks like the power is still out at home. A fridge cleaning will be in order when we get home.

Kill-the-penny bill introduced

Kill-the-penny bill introduced: "Representative Jim Kolbe (R-Arizona) on Tuesday unveiled details of legislation to eliminate the penny. The move is in reaction to the rising cost of zinc - the penny's main ingredient - which at current prices brings the cost of making the coin to 1.4 cents each."

Do they think that killing the penny is really a good use of their time. With all that is going on in the world now. Besides what would I do with my penny jar!

Power Outage!

We went to the body shop to pick up Marilyn's car. They did a great job fixed the bumper and washed the car. It looks like new. Afterwords, we went to the diner for dinner. While we were having dinner a storm came rolling in over the Navy Base. It was a big green monster with heavy winds and lots of lightning. It took the power out while we were at the diner. We had a delemia as we were going to pay by debit card. But we scraped together enough cash for the bill and tip. Power was out on the way home. So to were the traffic lights, getting home was touchy. Power out all night and still out this morning. Trains broken and running late this morning because of the storms. Radio reporting that it could be a few days before we get power. I hope not.

Today's Route

Mike, Rico & Marilyn Ready to go!

Motorcycle Ride

Well this morning at 7AM we were trying to sneek out of our driveway to go to the ride when my cycle alarm went off. I forgot that I armed it last time ugh! Anyway we got off and went to the start point at Hopewell Furnace. We met the fellows Mike, Mike, & Brian and we compared bikes. I wanted to take pictures but I forgot the compact flash card. The ride was about 140 miles thru the Oley Valley and past Kutztown. It was very scenic. Lots of winding roads thru farm country. It followed quite a few creeks and it was nice and shady. The ride had a theme of covered bridges. It was the right place in the country for it. We passed four of them. We stopped for lunch at what was Doe Mountain Ski resort. It was rebuilt with a hotel and conference center and is now Bear Creek. They had a great brunch set up and AIR CONDITION! It was really warm today. (92 not in the sun) Towns we passed thru was Fleetwood, Boyertown, Longswamp, Macungie, Bally and a host of others. I know, I know, This thread is worthless without pics! I try to get some from the other guys and my phone. More Later!

Motorcycle Ride

Looks like we are going to ride our motorcycle with some other people that have the same type of motorcycle. ( ST1100 , ST1300) We were going to go by ourselves but I think that this social riding will be fun. We'll meet at French Creek sometime this weekend.

Honda Update

Looks like the Civic will only be about $150 to fix.

Marilyn's bumper is seperated. Have to call insurance & body shop. It could be a $30 job of putting clipping it back or a $3000 job with a new bumper cover.

Motorcycle died in the driveway. Like turning a switch off. Tim from next door helped me push it back into place. Will look at it tonight after a haircut.

Workout..

Well starting at Fort Washington works out for working out. I have to pass the gym on the way home. This makes going to the gym painless. Well sort of.... Pass the ibuprofen!

Picture of Birds....

Here is the picture of the kildeer in the SEPTA parking lot. Look to the left of the bird you can just make out the eggs in the nest

Birds....

Saw a baby mourning dove this morning outside the front door. And as I parked at the train station a killdeer was squawking at me! It was protecting a nest that had four eggs in it. I’ll take a phone shot of it as I go home today.

July 4 Recap

Wow What a weekend!
Marj & Roy came down to Rock Hall. We had a blast. Started on Friday night, this made the weekend longer. We got out early onto the bay. Winds were great at 15 knots from the south. We sailed west and the boat worked out great. The sail twist and traveler method worked like a charm. Not to much heeling and in control. Went to Tolchester on Sunday. The debris from the flooding was unbelievable. The breakwater they had down there was totaly clogged. No boats in or out. We enjoyed cooling off at the pool until the "doodie" incident. On Monday Marilyn and I went to Anapolis to see a double feature, Over the Hedge and Cars. The Rock Hall fireworks were spectacular as always, as was the annual Spring Cove tooting of the horns. We packed up and went home Tuesday the 4th and stopped at the roadside nursery to pickup spike plants and corn on the cob. We left no 4th of July tradition undone!
