TOE MATE TOE, TOE MAH TOE, Tomatina!!!!

OK, I now know what to do with all those tomatoes from the garden. Tomatina is a festival held in Buñol Spain on the fourth Wednsday in August. Participants battle each other with over ripe tomatoes.

Ernesto

Ernesto is the big question mark for this weekend. We were thinking of going to the Maggothy River to over night. Noaa said that Ernesto may stall over our area and pound us with rain. We need to keep a weather eye on this. I may need to run down to strip canvas off the boat and secure it.

Garden

The rains are watering our garden. We have been getting some soakers. I made some seafood marinara last night with our tomatoes. I finnally perfected a good recipe for using all those small cherry tomatoes. Make a blender full of cleaned tomatoes, saute garlic and dried hot peppers in olive oil then onions and peppers are sauted, put in the tomatoes, salt pepper and sugar. Let it simmer for 45 min. Optionally put in your favorite seafood, crab, shrimp, clams or mussels cook till seafood is done. You have a nice light and thin marinara.

Barnacles on the prop

In the creek yesterday I checked the prop on the sailboat and it was crusted with barnacles again. I had just scrapped it clean about 3 weeks ago. With a prop crusted with barnacles the prop will just spin and the boat will not move forward. This has been the talk of the marina this year every one has had a diver come in and clean their prop ( for $60!! ) or had their boat hauled out of the water to have it cleaned. ( for about $150!!!) The barnacles have attached themselves to the props and shafts. Not to the bottoms as far as I can tell. Lucky thing that I can reach the prop easily and do not have to dive to clean it. This has saved us at least $120 as we had to do this twice this year.

Not finding Nemo

Marilyn, Meg, Jim, Mike and Gail went out to Bluefin. A very good sushi bar. You can see here the Marlee roll. It was well presented and very tasty. Also, Meg's birthday did not pass it is the 27th. After dinner tomatoes were passed out in the parking lot. Tomorrow Marlyn and I are going to try to get down to the boat.

Friday!

Cool morning for a motorcycle ride. Took a whole space to avoid tickets. But I feel that I rasie the ire of my fellow commuters. I was working on a new web site last night. I was using the Microsoft Visual Studio Express. It's like the tools I use at work but they are free. The are missing the team sharing widgets. I was working on an ASP.NET site that used SQL Express in the background. My main reason for this is to have some demo code to show to future employers. Look for this site in the future. It should be fun news, links, photo albums should be in there.

Sushi On Friday

Meg's Birthday passed a little while ago and we are going out to celebrate. The group is going to Bluefin in Plymouth Meeting on Friday. I'm looking forward to going out with everybody to get some sushi.

Contact Lenses

Went this afternoon to get fitted for contact lenses again. I like the eye doctor that I'm going to. She fitted my glasses correct the first time. Unlike my last eye doctor who could not seem to fit me for glasses. So I have hope that the contact fitting will be good. We'll see in a few days.

Motorcycle audio system

Rerouted some wires on the motorcycle. These wires are for the audio and intercom system on the bike. This system allow us to hear music, talk to one another, talk to other bikers and answer the phone.
I originaly had the wires to connect the helemets, radios and phones "sneak out" from the seat. But that did not work as I whould have to tuck them in when I parked. And I had the radio stuck to a tank bag on velcro. I ran the wires to come out of the dash and put some velcro on the dash board to attach the radio.
I also set up an outlet for the drivers helmet plug lower on the faring.

Marilyn Feeling better

After a couple of days just resting Marilyn is feeling better. It was good that we did not go camping she would have been miserable. I took this time to refine the audio system on the motorcycle. I'll post more on that later with pictures.

Marilyn still not feeling well

Marilyn's cold rages on. Coughing is keeping her from getting rest. But she is being a trooper by going to work.

Mom's eye exam

I took mom to the eye dr today. Turns out that she has a cataract in her right eye only. She is set up for surgery next month at Wills eye hospital. We are confident that she we see very much better after the surgery.

No Camping

Well looks like there is no camping this weekend. The couple that we were going with has an emergency and had to cancel. Just as well, Marilyn is not feeling well anyway. So no pictures of the new tent.

Wet Wallet

Operation dry out documents are under way here. My wallet went for a refreshing dip in the washing machine while I was doing my pants. Mostly all came out ok but some of the paper based docs has to be surgically peeled from the billfold.

Road Trip

Marilyn and I spent Sunday afternoon on the motorcycle. We took 611 north past Easton to the bridge to New Jersey. We found that to be a nice turing point. The day was nice and not humid. Our mesh jackets worked well to keep us cool. The area was nice. We'll have to spend some time to go over to Jersey in the future.

New Tent

Since we are going camping next weekend finding and cleaning the camping stuff was on our list this weekend. My tent was moldy and musty Marilyn's tent was buried deep in the shed. As we were putting it up my neighbor mentioned that he was getting rid of thier tent. After fooling around and putting it up in out yard we bought the tent. It's big enought to stand in. Also, it has room for all three rings! Real pictures next week.

Parking ticket

Here is where the bike was parked.

You can see that the space was maked no parking because the support wire and the concrete pad will not allow a car to fit. But the bike fits just fine. And it is not blocking movement of the cars for any of the spaces.

I'm going to send the parking authority the pictures and see if they let me off.

Parking Ticket

I had the motorcycle parked at the Jenkintown train station. I had it in a place where no cars can park and where is out of the way and not bothering anybody. I got a ticket. BullCookies!!!! I going to fight it.

Motorcycle

It's a beautiful day today. Rode the motorcycle to the train station. I have to stop after work to schedule a state inspection for the bike as it is up at the end of the month. I'm going to try the local Ducati dealer for the inspection. He seems to be serious about fixing motorcycles.

Riversharks Recap

We left the game in the seventh with the 'Sharks down 6 - Zip. The Riversharks were looking like they were chewed up and spit out. We must have taken the black cloud of defeat with us as we left because the 'Sharks came back to pound the Surf 12 - 8. Cool comfortable night, great seats, the dollar dogs weren't bad and it was a nice night out with the guys!

Doug MacLeod

Doug MacLeod is the blues singer that did the tune "I'm so broke (I can't even pay attention)" I heard the other night on XM Bluesville channel. It is from his album " Where I Been". He gets a great sound from his acoustic gutiar. His music is just slow picking and singing blues. The link has a great sample of his music. I think you'll like it!

Weekend with the Millers

This is Saul trying to understand. "What do you mean pictures on a Blog? "

We spent the weekend down at the boat. We has Saul and Ellen Miller as our guests. On Staurday there was wind on the bay and we took advantage of it and sailed for a few hours. The wind died off and we motored around took the Rock Hall coast tour and went back to the slip. The pool was welcome but not refreshing as it could be.

Garden stuff

Tonight we are heading for the boat but we have to pick a great looking eggplant and some tomatoes from the garden. We vowed to pick the eggplant before they get funny spots on them this year. So they get picked a little early and often. We'll have pictures of the bounty later.

It's not the heat.......

Well the heat broke last night. The temps are to drop to a refreshing 90 degrees. It more like going from a full boil to a simmer.

Suspicion at Ambler

Went to see Suspicion at the Ambler theater last night. Suspicion is a 1941 Hitchcock movie we saw it in glorious black and white. The plot build up was masterful, you could cut the tension with a knife, the drama built to the end. But the end was a stinker. Not one of Hitch's better endings. Reading IMDb looks like the ending was the idea of the studio. The ending was not his or the book the movie was based on. I agree with the user comments in IMDB that the ending in the book would have made a much better film. NOTE reading the IMDb is a SPOILER. Suspicion on Wiki.

Song lyric

Heard a great song on the XM blues channel last night. It had the following lyric. " ....I was so poor I could not even pay attention.....".

Sweating!

82degs this morning. The air is stuffy already. The weather guy says that the temps will break today with thunder storms. It will be a pleasant 88 this weekend.

Rigging

Walden rigging called. They looked over the boat for the control line project. And they will be setting up the boat in the next trip. Dobbs asked a bunch of questions and tried to find out what I had in mind. I think that when they are done the controls will be easy to use and a clean install. Pictures to follow.

Garden Stuff

Last night we finally had a salad from the garden. We made a tomato salad with our own tomatoes, basil and garlic! It is amazing how a fresh tomato from the garden tastes.

Mobile devices

Last night Marilyn and I got new PDA's. Marilyn got a blackberry and I a treo. We should be able to keep in touch better.
