Skateboard Update

Adrik got his skateboard and it seems to be a hit!

But there seems to be an unforseen sideffect.

Sofie the cat seems to have appropriated the skatebaord and has started to shred around the house.

Now the cat is starting to shred with her friends!!

They better wear a helmet!

Merry Christmas!!!

We had Christmas here with Mom. We pick her up and had dinner and opened presents. While making dinner we got a phone call from the Marilyn's Mom and Dad, Jay and Stacy and the kids. They sounded like the really were having a great time. We were having a good time too. Marilyn was giving a small concert on her new piano. We ended the day by taking Mom home.

Christmas Carol

We listened to a Christmas Carol that was recorded in 1938 by the Mecury Theater. It's available for download for free as is a large assortment of other performances.

Sold Out

On Christmas Eve we went to see the Good Shepherd and we found it was sold out. There was no other movies I thought was worth seeing. So we just went home.

New Jack Jazz

The new CD's are here! The Michael Powers cd's came in the mail. Frosty's Funky Holiday and New Jack Jazz. I ripped them and droped them into ITunes. The holiday cd is pretty good! Funky and instrumental a nice listen. New Jack Jazz will have to wait till tomorrow.

Thanks Mike!

Yanni's Diner

Just opened this week. Yanni's Diner in Glenside. A little diner that used to be the Kenyon. That has been closed for a little while for renovations and reopened as Yanni's. I went in for lunch this week and it a nice little warm diner not a silver or prefab diner. Some people would argue the authenticity of a diner that was not a prefab but this has all the right vibes. A menu that has all the basics. Some greek dishes and breakfast all the time. It's run by a greek couple and open 24/7. Which is the textbook definition of a diner. I had the chicken cheesesteak and soup. The soup is really great! I highly recommend it.

Cataract part II

Tomorrow we have to take Mom to have surgery on the left eye. Marilyn is coming along to help keep Mom in her place post op and not running up and down the stars!

Out and about part III and IV

Wolf and Veronica had a very nice open house yesterday. The house was decorated beautifuly and the food was delicious.

This afternoon Omicron sprung for lunch at the Continental Mid- Town. Lunch there was great but a tad on the expensive side. We have to go there before a show some time and have the lobster mac and cheese and a martini!

Also, Santa's helpers that drive the big brown trucks now have most of the presents. We made a major drop off at the UPS place tonight and delivery is set for this week.

Bread disaster!

Ok I've been trying to make that NY Times bread recipe in a bread machine. It's not going to work. With the wet dough it comes out a sticky, gluey mess. We woke up this morning to the smell of fresh bread but the result was just not edible! The bread machine is excellent as a envionment to let the dough rise for the 18 to 24 hours but I'm not going to bake it in the machine.

Out and about part II

We joined Meg, Agnes and Joe at Shundeez a Persian resturant in Chestnut Hill. The resteraunt is in the space of the old Rollers. The place was full of people in tuxedos. We were feeling a bit under dressed. It was musicans who were eating before giving a concert. The food there was great. Many kabob based dishes which were marinated and grilled to perfection. Getting together with those guys was great. Lots of good coversation and sharing good food.

There is No Independent Flanders

State TV in Belguim broke into regular programing to announce that the King and Queen have high tailed it out of the country and the Dutch speaking half of the country has declared independence. But in move worthy of the Orson Wells Mercury Theater it was a joke. Some people were not let in on this little secret and were pretty miffed. "This is not something you play around with!" said the prime minister of Luxembourg. The station flashed a message " This is fiction" after about a half hour.

Glad they got that cleared up!

This morning Flanders is just the way he always is!

Dangerous Political Satire!

Dick said... "It like a live action Inconvenient Truth! , .....It's a story about two gay pundits! They were stuffing their agenda down the audience's throat!!!! "

Well it doesn't matter I was laughing so hard that I easily coughed up that leather bound Dayrunner that the nice cast member placed down my throat. This show "The Is Week that Was" was really funny. From the Q and A session to tell us to silence our cell phones to the parody of the local news had us giggling and laughing so hard that we almost forgot the nice young man from Homeland Security taking names.

The story is topical politial humor and a look into political humor in the past. They had a skit of Bill Cosby interviewing today's pundits which brought to mind the famous Cosby jello commercials. Patsy, direct from 9th and Shunk was on her stoop dispensing South Philly political wisdom. Also, there was the obligitory news segment which had some clever local news segments and hilarous remote spots.

The show is at the Adrienne Theater until Jan 7 so get tickets soon.

And Dan is the Man for 2008!!!!

Out and about

Marilyn, Meg, Angela and I went out for dinner and a show last night. It was a bit like being in on girls night out. It was a great time. Marilyn and I met Meg at the Marathon Grill. The one on 16 and Sansom has been redone and does not look and feel like a bad diner. It's has warm wood tones and a bar. Dinner was good, and fast as we were going to the theater and not lingering. After we had dinner we met up with Angela on the way to the theater.
