Heli Crash

Looks like eight flights was the limit. Tried to run a power up maneuver and I touched the ground. It took out a couple of gears, shafts and bearings. I had spares for everthing but the bearings. A trip to the hobby shop is in order tomorrow and I be back on the flight line. Tomorrow may be pretty crummy weatherwise.

Ballet Tonight

Marilyn and Meg are heading out to the ballet tonight. I'm going to stay home. If I went there I would interrupt the dance with big sneezes. Pollen is starting to dust the cars in the last few days and everyone is sniffeling and sneezing.

Fixing SailBoat

Went down to the boat on Saturday. Looked at the new engine that was put in over the winter. It looks great but it still needs some work. I made a list for the marina to work on. I set up the solar panel to charge the battery. Fixed the blidge pump, and filled the engine with oil. Next weekend we have go down and take care of the boat's bottom. Sand it down and slap it, with a coat of bottom paint. Soon we'll have it splashed into the bay!

First Flights

Well I got the TREX model helicopter to fly in the backyard yesterday. I have been flying a bit last week. The weather has been cooperating with calm winds. So I have about 6 flights with no crashes! The flights last about 5 minutes and all I can do is just hover.

Happy Birthday Marilyn

Happy Birthay to Marilyn! I know that it is a week late, but with all that happend last week we said that we would postpone it for a week. Ok Marilyn, blow out the candles!
Saul, sorry I still can't tell you how old, she'll smack me!

Gone Green

We are well on our way to saving the planet. The change we did at the start of the year to compact fluorescents has been saving a bunch. Our third PECO bill for the year confirms that we used 35% less electric this year.

Hair Cut

Well ran out of a crazy busy day at work just in time to get a hair cut. Went to Ralph's in Glenside. I was expecting a full blown kindergarden like it was the last time I went there for a quick cut. This time instead of 12 kids waiting for the horsey chair it was just me. Mmmmm... well I was not waiting for the horsey chair. But just me in the shop. I got sheared and out the door in record time.

Getting better

I'm feeling a little better. I think I got a case of revenge of the kimchi. Sunday night and Monday I spent in bed. Well mostly in bed. But I'm still getting better and went to work today.

Also, we got the package from home today. Marilyn is eagerly going thru it now.

Suburban Love Songs

Marilyn, Meg and I went out to see the 1812 production of Suburban Love Songs. It a play about free love, sex drugs and rock and roll told thru interpretative dance, physical comedy and 60's lounge music. It's set at a suburban party in the 60's and not a word is spoken and the story is told thru the dance and music. It was really original and and funny! The music ranged from Steppenwolf, the Beatles, Burt Bacharach and bouzouki! So come on down join the swinging 60's, dress as sharp as James Bond, grab a cocktail, get out the twister and put on some Herb Alpert!

April Fools

Ok looks like we have to be on guard for any type of tom foolery.
By the way did you hear about the maple trees exploding in the forest?

Movie Night

Saturday Marilyn and I went out and saw Vantage Point. It's a thriller about a attempt on the president's life. The move is a bit like Memento where you live the same point in time over and over again. But it gets the ball rolling just before you get sick of this device. I give it two thumbs up as a goods movie nice vistas of Spain in the movie.

Computer Crash

Well the disk crashed on the system we keep downstairs. I think the magic smoke was released from the hard drive. It sounds like little parts shaking around inside. I went to Best Buy and bought the smallest disk they had 500gig I bought 2 as I wanted to back up the server that has our pictures and music. So I walked out with a 1 Terabyte of disk Eeek! I never thought I would be talking about that much disk much less bringing it home. Then setting up to get the files ready to restore the downstairs system I trashed the laptop! Now I had two crashed systems. Well today is better as I got the magic disk repair CD from Barry the IT guy at work. It got my laptop running and then I go the downstairs sytem running and now I have both backed up. Now I partialy backed up the server, the pictures and music, and now I have to get the server backup software this weekend.

Misson Accomplished

What a day here at Stowe! Sunshine and 30 degs no wind, just a perfect day. We took the bus to the Trapp Family Lodge Nordic Center. We went up to the cabin which is near the highest point on the property. The climb was long but the trails were just perfect. The sky was clear and we could just see forever. The Haul Road downhill was great if just a bit icy. We fell a few times on out journey down the mountain. The trip down is always colder as you are not generating as much heat. But the lodge was not too far and warm and had food! A band was playing jazz as we warmed up by the hearth. Tonight is a wine and cheese and then dinner. Now I just have to get my bones into the shower... and a quick nap.

Three Cheers For the Bus Driver

After a 9 hr drive we made it to Stowe. The hiways were ice covered and there was a lot of backups with cars off the road. Good thing we had a professional driving the bus. Starr Tours driver and trip veteran Tom Dye made it look easy. Marilyn and I found a nice greek resturant to have lunch before we left. Kuzina by Sofie in Cherry Hill is a nice place if you are in the neighborhood. Here in Stowe we are at the Commodores Inn, the usual place, the cookies on our arrival was more than welcome. Now we have to get down to breakfast so that we can get on the bus ar 9am for the trip to the ski lodge.

Ski Weekend!

We are trying to make it thru the week to make it onto the Nordics Stowe weekend. We just have to negotiate a tough work week, weekly chores, doing stuff we really should be doing, and laundry. It'll be good to get away. Looks like snow here for the get out of town phase of the trip which could make things tricky. Snow there is plentiful, white, cold and deep. The weekend should be fun. Wonder if the Commodores has Wi-Fi???

A Convenient Truth

We've joined the Al Gore Planet Rangers!
Since we changed to compact fluorescents we used 25% less electric last month.

Take that Global Warming!
It's not as clear if we saved with the new windows. It look like we used 10% less gas too but I'm not sure due to the weather being warmer.

Helicopter Fixed

I fixed one of the helicopters that was damaged in my last attempt to fly. I replaced some plastic parts that were prone to break on a hard landing with aluminum and replaced the radio with the one compatable with the Spektrum radio. I also adjusted it so that it should be easier to fly. Note I said easier not easy. I just hope that I get a little more flight time for all the fixing time. I still have to get busy fixing the TREX.
